Jiande Aviation Town: Design Excellence and Innovation in Training

Posted: 12 December 2023

The VV team travelled to Jiande in Zhejiang province to meet with aviation training technologists at the Jiande Aviation Town. Situated there the Airport Training Base (ATB) shown below contains a unique architecturally designed facility, in which general training for all aspects of aerodrome activity including logistics, security, and ATC is delivered. The ATC training focus is on smaller airports with simulation available for Tower and Procedural Approach. This range of capability is not widely available in China, making the ATB a vital part of the development of general aviation in the country.

It was a pleasure to meet Dean Liu Wei (pictured below with Visual Vectoring Managing Director Michael Rowland), and ATC subject matter expert Mr Tong Xuezi. We will be looking to work together with the experts at ATB to explore the utility of our ATC and language training products within their curricula.

Rising Traffic and Increased Training Requirement in Guangzhou

Posted: 11 December 2023

On the first stop of our winter visit to China, the VV team provided a product demonstration to management and instructional staff at Middle South Air Traffic Management Bureau (MSATMB) in Guangzhou. We were kindly hosted by Dean Huiling and Ms Hu. Ivy Liu, of Beijing Connected Visual Technology (below) facilitated a demonstration of our technology, which was warmly received.

In anticipation of rising traffic levels and an increased training requirement, the management team at MSATMB have put plans in place for a brand new training facility. We, at Visual Vectoring, look forward to the opportunity of playing a role in meeting this challenge.

Third VV installation completed in China

Posted: 22 April 2021

Subject matter experts have completed a third installation of VV course-ware in China, which included both the VV Approach and VV Enroute programs.

After the successful induction of local trainers in Chengdu, a relaxing time was enjoyed at a local teahouse (below).

Post-installation Visit to CAUC

Posted: 19 June 2019

Last month, VV training specialists visited the Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) in Tianjin to support the use of our training products: VV Enroute and VV Approach.
These products are installed on 180 CBT computers, and up to 600 CAUC students will be using them each year.

The VV Team were given a tour of the impressive Tower Simulation Lab (above), which contains a bank of 32 positions configurable for combined or individual training. It is the largest installation of its type in the world. In addition, a full 360 degree Tower simulation, which will make use of the latest LED technology, is under construction.

We look forward to assisting CAUC training exports in making best use of VV technology into the future.

Visit to Jilin

Posted: 24 May 2019
The VV Team has made an enjoyable visit to the Changchun ATC Station in Jilin, China to discus ATC training and other competencies.

The impressive Tower, which features a waterfall mural, houses the Approach and Tower training centres. We were given a tour of the training facilities as well as the ATC Tower and radar simulation capability which was state of the art.

Like most airports in China, Changchun is experiencing significant traffic growth. Plans are being made to invest in more infrastructure to support the increased complexity and traffic levels.

We were warmly received and look forward to visiting again.

Visit to PATTS

Posted: 1 December 2018
As part of our after-sales services, the VV Team visited Manila this week to discuss the continuing use of VV Enroute at PATTS College of Aeronautics (‘Where Dreams take Flight’.)

Issues covered include:

  • Effective assessment and resolution of audio problems;
  • Recording student performance information;
  • Proposed software upgrades and features;
  • Update procedures.
  •

    Some 350 students currently use the software and the licence has been renewed for a fifth year. The highly professional PATTS teachers have provided some feedback that will be immensely useful in making VV Products even better.

    Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) Induction

    Posted: 19 November 2018

    The VV Team are currently in Tianjin inducting Civil Aviation University of China (CAUC) instructors into the implementation of the VV Approach and VV Enroute.

    In terms of trainee throughput, CAUC is probably the largest ATC training institution in the world. The use of VV technology will allow CAUC to provide extra simulation and training resources to their students, thus effecting a better outcome for graduates and a more efficient ATC training program.

    Visit to Myanmar

    Posted: 11 August 2014

    The Visual Vectoring team has visited Myanmar to induct a group of ATC instructors into the use of the VV Approach training program. We were made to feel very welcome by the Director General, Mr Win Swe Tun and by the Director (Air Navigation Safety), Mr Tike Aung (pictured below).

    The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Myanmar will introduce Surveillance Approach services to Yangon, and is planning to use VV Approach as a bridging course for experienced procedural Approach controllers. In addition to discussing this process, the VV team and DCA specialists exchanged ideas on ATC training techniques and safety training.

    A highlight of our time in Yangon was a tour of the DCA academy, ATC Centre and Tower.
